Description

Plastic granules formulation involves several steps to convert raw plastic materials into small, uniform pellets or granules.

Processing of plastic granules

  1. Sorting and Cleaning: The first step is to sort and clean the plastic materials. This involves separating different types of plastics and removing any contaminants such as dirt, debris, or other non-plastic materials. Sorting and cleaning can be done manually or through automated processes.
  2. Shredding: The sorted and cleaned plastic materials are then shredded into smaller pieces using shredding machines. Shredding helps reduce the size of the plastic and prepares it for further processing.
  3. Washing and Drying: In some cases, the shredded plastic is washed to remove any remaining contaminants. This can be done using water or specialized cleaning agents. After washing, the plastic is dried to remove moisture. Drying can be achieved through hot air drying or other drying methods.
  4. Extrusion: The dried plastic flakes or pieces are fed into an extruder, which melts the plastic using heat and friction. The molten plastic is then forced through a die, resulting in continuous strands or filaments.
  5. Cutting and Cooling: The continuous plastic strands are cut into shorter lengths as they exit the extruder. The cut plastic strands, known as “noodles,” are then rapidly cooled using air or water to solidify them.
  6. Pelletizing: The cooled plastic noodles are fed into a pelletizing machine, which cuts them into small, uniform pellets or granules. Pelletizing helps ensure consistent size and shape for ease of handling and further processing.
  7. Sieving and Packaging: The plastic granules may undergo sieving to remove any oversized or undersized particles, ensuring uniformity. Finally, the plastic granules are packaged in bags, boxes, or other containers for storage, transportation, or sale.

Plastic granules formulation product guide

It’s important to note that the specific details of the plastic granule formulation process can vary depending on the type of plastic being processed and the intended application. Different types of plastics may require different processing temperatures, extrusion techniques, or additional steps such as additives or compounding.
